DIOR AND I [M] Now Showing |
|
DIOR AND I is a tantalising ‘behind-the-seams’ glimpse at the making of Raf Simons’ first haute couture collection for Christian Dior in 2012.
Established in the fashion world as a minimalist designer, Simons has both his reputation and the legacy of Dior on the line when appointed Creative Director of the iconic Parisian brand. With only eight weeks to complete the collection, Simons and his dedicated group of collaborators work against time to make his vision a sublime reality. Melding the everyday, pressure-filled world of fashion with mysterious echoes from Dior’s past, the film is also a colourful homage to the long-serving seamstresses at the couturier, as history is once again created at Dior.

Over there, the academically gifted aren't bullied but celebrated, envied and even invited to parties. Nathan's rational brain can cope with the most complex of maths problems just fine, the real test comes when he meets his female exchange partner, Zhang Mei, and has to cope with falling in love; the most irrational thing of all. This Easter Holidays, join Paris Opera Ballet Director of Dance Brigitte Lefévre for a special three part cinema programme:
The Défilé (parade) of the Paris Opera Ballet is filmed for the first time. This 300-year tradition presents the entire company (154 Paris Opera Ballet dancers, and 100 or so pupils from the Ballet School) under full stage conditions and is an amazing spectacle. For Etudes, a dance class is transposed to the stage in a ballet that showcases the purity, rigour and exactness of classical technique. The Nutcracker is Tchaikovsky’s journey to a dreamlike world of whirling snowflakes, myriad flowers and dancing sugar plum fairies, and one of his most fabulous masterpieces.
