The Invisible Woman marks Ralph Fiennes’ second outing as director, while also starring as the complex figure, writer Charles Dickens. In 1857, at the height of Dickens’ career, he pursued a love affair with a young actress, Nelly Ternan. She remained his muse for the rest of his life, but their relationship was kept secret, even after Dickens’ separation from his wife. As a result, Ternan’s story is one of someone who almost wasn’t there; her story very nearly disappearing from the record for good. Claire Tomalin’s pioneering biography of Dickens has been adapted by British screenwriter Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, The Hour). The Invisible Woman is an elegant recreation of the times, featuring superb performances from Fiennes, Felicity Jones and Kristin Scott Thomas, delivering a richly powerful drama.
“Piercingly intimate and intelligent. An engrossing, affecting drama with excellent performances.” The Guardian

After 18 years in prison, Viktor Khadem (Don Hany, East West 101, Offspring) is a man who has almost given up on life.
For his final 12 months, he is sentenced to Won Wron, a low-security prison 200 km outside Melbourne in regional Victoria, where Senior Officer Matt Perry (Hugo Weaving) has established a unique program to rehabilitate broken men through giving them the responsibility for the rehabilitation of injured raptors - beautiful, fearsome proud eagles, falcons and owls.
Against all odds, Matt takes on Viktor as his number one test case, introducing him to Yasmine, the majestic Wedge-tailed Eagle with a two metre wingspan. If these two can tame each other, anything is possible.
Inspired by true events, HEALING is a powerful, moving story of redemption, the discovery of hope and the healing of the spirit - in the most unlikely place, for the most unique men, through the most unusual catalyst.

THE FINISHERS [PG] - Coming Soon |
|
Julien (Fabien Héraud) is 17, has a great sense of humour, bags of charm, and is wheelchair-bound due to cerebral palsy.
Despite their love for him, his family is gradually falling apart under the strain of dealing with his disability. In a bid to bond with his father Paul (Jacques Gamblin), Julien challenges him to participate with him in the Ironman race in Nice (French Riviera), a triathlon in which his father has previously competed. This trial is already exceptional, but it becomes almost impossible if one has to help a disabled youth throughout the course. Beyond the sporting exploit, this is the story of one family’s exemplary combat, and a moving portrait of the love between a father and his son.
The characters are inspired by a true story in this emotionally involving film, with moving performances from a terrific cast, including Alexandra Lamy as Julien’s mother, Claire. With Rocky-esque training montages and nail-biting sequences in the stunning mountains of Nice (shot at the actual 2012 Ironman competition), director Nils Tavernier turns the conventions of the sports film on its head. You might even be inspired to run yourself after seeing this stirring family story! |

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 [CTC] - Coming Soon |
|
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp. |

LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON [PG] - Coming Soon |
|
The ‘switched at birth’ urban legend and the Nature-vs.-Nurture debate provides, the globally acclaimed director of Nobody Knows, Still Walking and I Wish, Hirokazu Kore-eda with a fresh opportunity to revisit his ongoing preoccupation with family dynamics and parent-child relationships in contemporary Japan. The life of go-getting workaholic architect Ryota—one of comfort and quietly ordered affluence with his wife Midori and son Keita —is violently overturned when hospital administrators reveal the unthinkable: Keita is not his biological son. Due to a mistake made by a negligent nurse, his ‘true’ son has been raised in the dishevelled but warm-hearted home of working-class shopkeeper Yudai and his wife. The different approaches of both couples to their excruciating dilemma and the gradual emotional awakening of the all-too-rational Ryota are at the core of this sensitive drama of family feeling, which showcases Kore-eda’s rich sense of humanity. |

TCHAIKOVSKY'S THE SLEEPING BEAUTY - Coming Soon |
|
The Sleeping Beauty is the pinnacle of classical ballet: a perfect marriage of Petipa’s choreography and Tchaikovsky’s music and a glorious challenge for every dancer on stage. It is also The Royal Ballet’s signature work. To mark the Company’s 75th birthday in 2006, Monica Mason and Christopher Newton revitalized its landmark 1946 production. With Oliver Messel’s gorgeous original designs wonderfully re-imagined by Peter Farmer, and additional choreography by Anthony Dowell, Christopher Wheeldon and Frederick Ashton, has made a Sleeping Beauty for today which not only captures the mood of the original but shows that this is very much a living work for The Royal Ballet, growing and changing with the Company while celebrating its past. |
