AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT
The gorgeous Salma Hayek stars in this riveting satire about an out of work advertising executive who inadvertently becomes an overnight news phenomenon when an accident puts him in mortal danger. From his life-threatening predicament, Roberto (Jose Mota) seizes the opportunity as a chance to sell his story to the highest bidder and provide for his family. Engrossing at every turn, maverick Spanish filmmaker Álex de la Iglesia’s film is a biting satire about the machinations of today’s sensation-hungry media. Seamlessly moving between drama and black comedy, the heart of the film lies in the pitch-perfect performances from Mota, in his big-screen debut, and the always brilliant Hayek.

| WHERE DO WE GO NOW? [M] |
|
Written and directed by Nadine Labaki, this heart-warming modern fable follows Labaki's impressive directorial debut Caramel. Set in a small, isolated Lebanese village, a group of Muslim and Christian women band together to ingeniously devise a plan to distract the local menfolk in an attempt to defuse mounting inter-religious tensions. Most days, the women gather at the cafe of feisty Christian widow Amal (Labaki) to work on joint projects and share gossip and song. These resourceful women, of all ages, shapes and sizes, united by their unwavering friendship, try almost every means at their disposal. As a series of chaotic incidents tests the women's ingenuity, can they manage, with their usual sass, to successfully stave off the fall-out from the distant war? Extraordinarily inventive and often comical, Where Do We Go Now? received a five minute standing ovation at its Cannes premiere, and won the Audience Award at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival.
"Spirited, upbeat and seasoned with musical sequences, Where Do We Go Now? has an abundance of charm" - Allan Hunter, Daily Express

BRAVE 2D and 3D [PG]
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In BRAVE, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.
Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious Lords of the land. Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield, The Social Network), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets.
As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. | MARGARET [CTC] |
|
"Paquin creates that rarest of things: a profoundly unsympathetic character who is mysteriously, mesmerically, operatically compelling to watch."
Peter Bradshaw - The Guardian UK
From the director of You Can Count On Me comes MARGARET starring Anna Paquin, Matt Damon, Mark Ruffalo and Kieran Culkin. Margaret centres on a 17-year-old New York City high-school student who feels certain that she inadvertently played a role in a traffic accident that has claimed a woman's life. In her attempts to set things right she meets with opposition at every step. Torn apart with frustration, she begins emotionally brutalizing her family, her friends, her teachers, and most of all, herself. She has been confronted quite unexpectedly with a basic truth: that her youthful ideals are on a collision course against the realities and compromises of the adult world.
