| THE GREAT GATSBY [CTC] - Special Advance Movie Club Screenings |
|
Party like it's 1922 with Palace Cinemas!
To celebrate the release of THE GREAT GATSBY we are thrilled to invite our Movie Club Members to exclusive advance screenings of Baz Luhrmann's highly anticipated film in 3D at Palace Cinema Como, Balwyn, Dendy Brighton, Kino and Westgarth.
From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby. Luhrmann has created his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before, in a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role.
THE GREAT GATSBY follows would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits.

This was part of the Wings Over the World Tour that also spawned the triple live album Wings Over America. McCartney remained reluctant to make the entire film available to the general public until now.

| TABU [CTC] - Now Showing |
|
A love story told in two unique parts, TABU is, quite simply, a film unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Deftly moving between contemporary Portugal, colonial Africa and the landscape of dreams, director Miguel Gomes conjures an enthralling story of obsession, memory and dangerous forbidden romance.
Playfully interpreting and rearranging history, Gomes’ film is somehow technically and narratively subversive and yet inescapably romantic, thanks to the sensuous black and white cinematography and incredible score and sound design. Part one portrays a society wallowing in nostalgia, while part two propels a dramatic shift in tone and emotional power.
