EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP is the world's first Street Art disaster movie.

Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post-hurricane New Orleans to the Palestinian segregation wall in the West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film.

In this fantastical tale, Banksy becomes the prize catch of Thierry Guetta, a French shopkeep-cum-videographer who becomes obsessed with finding and filming the elusive painter, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner with spectacular results.

The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the world's most infamous graffiti artists at work.

"4 stars. Hugely funny and engaging... It's a compelling film, whichever way you react. It tears the art world to pieces and gives a raw sense of the anger behind much of the street art. If it's a fake, it's an extremely clever one. However, I doubt that: there's too much that's stranger than fiction, the way life genuinely is."
Paul Byrnes, SMH

"An exhilarating hall-of-mirrors look at what happens when global art fame turns anonymous, artists become objects, fans turn into artists, and the whole what's-sincere-and-what's-a-sham spectacle is more fun than art was ever supposed to be."
Owen Gleiberman, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
