Forty-something Suzanne (Scott Thomas) is the wife of a doctor, and the mother of two teenagers. Bored with her life, she decides to go back to work as a physiotherapist, and her husband Samuel (Yvan Attal) agrees that they can fix up a consulting room for her in an annex of their house. The man in charge of the work is a Spanish labourer, Ivan (Sergi López), working illegally after a spell in prison. When Suzanne meets Ivan the connection is electric, and she is soon caught up in a turbulent affair. Samuel's attempts to keep her are matched in their extremity by Suzanne's headlong rush to shed all vestiges of her former life, regardless of the cost.

 

Corsini's  story of wilful female passion is made all the more engrossing by the bold performances of her high-calibre cast.
