From the very first notes of Tchaikovsky’s overture to The Nutcracker, a sense of mystery and magic pervades the theatre as Herr Drosselmeyer sets in train the events that will see his beloved nephew, Hans Peter, freed from the enchantment of the evil Mouse King by the resourceful Clara.
Tchaikovsky’s score contains some of the best know melodies in ballet, from the flurrying sounds of the Waltz of the Snowflakes to the dreamlike dance of The Sugar Plumb Fairy and the vigorous Russian Dance. Enjoy a enchanting outing with the family which includes a magically growing Christmas tree, a midnight battle of toy soldiers, a magical snowstorm, the Kingdom of the Sweets, The Sugar Plum Fairy, her handsome Prince and a glittering court in a series of dazzling dance.
