Open Captioned movies [OC]
Open captioned movies ensure that all people can enjoy films, including the deaf and hearing impaired. These sessions are also useful for people learning to speak English. Captions are the reproduction of the soundtrack in a text format, and are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Captions reproduce the dialogue as well as significant sound effects and song lyrics. Please note that editorial decisions are sometimes made not to include song lyrics as they may detract from the important action or visual impact that is taking place on the screen. Open Captions are visible to all viewers in the auditorium.

Audio Described movies [AD]
Audio described movies ensure that all people can enjoy films, including the blind and vision impaired. Audio Description provides an additional commentary via personal headphones to concisely narrate the visual elements of a movie. Visual elements of a movie may include descriptions of new scenes, settings, costumes, body language, and ‘sight gags’. Audio Description is spoken between existing portions of dialogue. Audio Description does not impact other viewers in the auditorium, who can view the film as normal without the personal [AD] headphones.

Bookings for use of [AD] headsets are essential. Please phone the Verona on (02) 9360 6296 (10am-5pm daily) or email your enquiry here. Bookings are contingent on return confirmation from the cinema.

Currently we do not have any Open Captioned or Audio Described movies scheduled.
