Synopsis

The British Film Festival welcomes the newly restored version of Nicolas Roeg’s eerie 1973 masterpiece Don’t Look Now, adapted from the short story by Daphne du Maurier and starring a gorgeous Julie Christie and handsome Donald Sutherland.
Laura (Christie) and John (Sutherland) are a grieving couple whose young daughter has died in a tragic freak accident. When John accepts a commission to restore an ancient church, the couple travel to Venice, where they encounter two elderly sisters, one of whom claims to be clairvoyant and informs them that their daughter is trying to contact them and warn them of danger. Initially, John dismisses their claims, but soon after starts to experience inexplicable mysterious sightings and frightening encounters himself.
Renowned for its innovative editing style and use of recurring motifs and themes, this psychic thriller is widely understood to have popularised the classic scary-movie template. Coupled with its controversial sex scene that was explicit for its time, it is now cemented as a definitive and influential work in horror and British film.
