A spectacular symphony is coming… TÁR is the third feature film from Todd Field, returning 16 years on from his Academy Award nominated film, Little Children (2006), having also received Academy Award nominations for his debut feature, In the Bedroom (2001). The film stars the two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett in the titular role of composer Lydia Tár.
The film, set in the international world of classical music, centers on Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composer/conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra. The film follows Tár navigating her daily life and focused on perfecting her latest symphony.
With a jaw dropping performance from Blanchett, exceptional directorial skills from Field and music by Oscar-winning composer, Hildur Guðnadóttir, TÁR hits all the right beats.
