From Oscar nominated director Richard Linklater (Boyhood) comes this funny yet heartbreaking buddy road movie, in which three aging Vietnam War veterans—soft-spoken Doc (Steve Carell), fast-talking Sal (Bryan Cranston), and sober Mueller (Laurence Fishburne)—reunite for a different kind of mission: the burial of Doc’s only child, who has been killed in the Iraq War.
As this trio of old friends makes its way up the East coast, Linklater gives us a rich rendering of friendship, a grand mosaic of common life in the USA, and a striking meditation on the passage of time and the nature of truth. A great movie from one of America’s finest filmmakers.
