Brisbane Movie Club Preview: Bitter Christmas

Palace Movie Club Members are invited to see Bitter Christmas early at our exclusive Preview on Thursday 13 November, with discounted member tickets available ahead of its official release on 26 November!

Two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar (Pain and Glory, Talk to Her) returns to Spanish-language cinema with a visually sumptuous and wickedly witty tragicomedy about grief, desire and the blurred line between life and art.

When advertising director Elsa (Bárbara Lennie) escapes Madrid for Lanzarote after the death of her mother, grief and creative inspiration begin to intertwine. At the same time, acclaimed filmmaker Raúl (Leonardo Sbaraglia) starts writing a screenplay inspired by a personal tragedy, and the boundaries between their lives and his fiction begin to collapse.

Featuring Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Patrick Criado, Milena Smit and Quim Gutiérrez, Bitter Christmas is Almodóvar at his most playful and provocative, transforming heartbreak, memory and artistic obsession into a dazzling exploration of the stories we tell about ourselves.
