Synopsis
A journey that questions old structures and seeks out more compassionate models of unity. Raised with a conservative, capitalist worldview, filmmaker Kane Guglielmi set out on a global journey to explore alternative economic and political models that might lead to greater peace, unity and fairness. What began as a personal quest evolved into Common Wealth - a documentary filmed across eight countries, including Switzerland, Australia, Norway, Mexico, Singapore, the UK, Italy and the USA. Known early in his career as Australia’s youngest-ever network television director (Home and Away, 2011), Guglielmi returned to filmmaking after raising a family and experiencing a life-changing personal trauma. The silver lining of that experience was a newfound empathy, inspiring years of travel and conversations with extraordinary people around the world. Gentle in spirit yet global in scope, Common Wealth is both an intimate story and an urgent call to reimagine the systems that shape our lives. It’s a reminder that, despite different cultures and perspectives, unity and equity are essential to building a more hopeful future.
