BBFF26 Broken English

From Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard – the BAFTA-nominated directors of the Sundance award-winning 20,000 Days on Earth – comes a bold documentary portrait of the inimitable singer, songwriter and icon Marianne Faithfull. A survivor, provocateur and true original, Faithfull spent more than six decades defying expectations and constantly reinventing herself. Made with her full involvement, Broken English unfolds within the imagined Ministry of Not Forgetting, where memory and mythology collide. Tilda Swinton and George MacKay guide the journey, with performances and contributions from friends and collaborators including Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Courtney Love, Beth Orton, Suki Waterhouse and Jehnny Beth. The film culminates in Marianne Faithfull’s final ever performance, accompanied by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. This session includes short films
