What did bouzouki virtuosos such as Markos Vamvakaris, Vassilis Tsitsanis, Manolis Chiotis, Giorgos Zambetas, and many others have in common, and what were the differences in their playing styles? What repertoire, exercises, and techniques did the old bouzouki players focus on? What is taqasim? Is there an objective standard for a "good" or "bad" bouzouki sound, and how is it determined? By exploring the musical evolution of the bouzouki, the documentary aims to provide a historical and musical overview, as well as a cultural and social account of the evolution of Greek society. This is achieved through interviews with major figures in the modern history of the instrument, complemented by rare archival material.
