IFF24 A Dark Story

Directed and co-written by Leonardo d'Agostini (THE CHAMPION IFF19) in his second feature film, A DARK STORY is an enthralling thriller that seamlessly blends elements of film noir, legal drama and investigative mystery. Vito (Giordano De Plano, also in TRUST) and Carla (Laetitia Casta) have been separated for a few years. They loved each other desperately, before jealousy, hate and violence destroyed their love. Now Vito has a new life, Carla has a new partner, and their only bond is their three children Nicola, Rosa and little Mara. One day, after one of the children’s birthday parties, Vito disappears without a trace. His disappearance sets in motion a police investigation, which delves into the past of everyone involved and uncovers many hidden secrets in the search for the truth. But, in these cases, does a single, clear, irrefutable truth really exist? Based on Antonella Lattanzi’s 2017 novel, this story compellingly examines power relations and the blurred lines between right and wrong.
