Jebediah: Are We OK?

Fresh from its Premiere at the 2026 Melbourne International Film Festival, Australian director Arlo Dean Cook, depicts an intimate look into the lives and 30-year music journey of beloved Perth-born alt-rock band Jebediah, in JEBEDIAH: ARE WE OK? Perth alt rockers Jebediah were a breed apart in the halcyon days of the late-90s and early-2000s Australian indie music scene. Commanding national attention on triple j and channelling the power of multiple studio albums into their own record label, Jebediah seemed like quintessential industry survivors. But as the band entered its third decade, the freewheeling lifestyle of their youth had begun to cast a shadow. With recreation shifting to addiction and connections fraying, the lifelong friends and creative partners faced their biggest challenge yet, finding a way to keep the music alive. Filmed over 11 years and drawing on more than three decades of personal archives, home movies and live performances, Cook’s candid documentary charts the highs of fame alongside the harder realities of growing up together. Featuring Kevin Mitchell, Brett Mitchell, Vanessa Thornton and Chris Daymond, with perspectives from Australian music icons including Tim Rogers, Phil Jamieson and Janet English, JEBEDIAH: ARE WE OK? is as much a story of friendship and survival as it is of music.
