Take in the epic historical action drama, The Riot with a Nordic cocktail & more at the Saxo Scandinavian Film Festival Opening Night events!

An epic historical action drama starring Otto Fahlgren (Beartown) and Simon J. Berger (Margrete- Queen of the North), The Riot is set in the isolated Norwegian mining town of Sulitjelma, called Sulis, at the beginning of the 20th Century. Surrounded by a beautiful, dramatic, snow-capped landscape and under the awe-inspiring Northern Lights, young courage will be put to the test.

Young miner Konrad Nilsson (Fahlgren) dreams of a better life. In the mines, the workers decide to stand together in a revolt against the mining company and its ruthless, powerful leader Wennstrøm (Berger) - this was the Wild West of the Nordic countries. One day, when leaving Wenstrøm's office, the beautiful maid Johanna catches Konrad’s eye and he is captivated.

Based on incredible real events in the dangerous copper mines and directed by Academy award nominated Nils Gaup (The Last King), this important part of Norwegian history has never been told on screen before.
