Ballet in four acts (1984) Encore Screenings! During his birthday celebration, Prince Siegfried (Paul Marque) is expected to choose a bride. Longing to escape reality, he imagines an ideal love, while his tutor tries to bring him back down to earth and remind him of his duty. On a dreamlike escape, the prince meets Odette (Sae Eun Park), a princess transformed into a swan by the sorcerer Rothbart (Pablo Legasa); only true love can break the spell. Captivated, Siegfried promises Odette he will save her and invites her to his court. To trap the prince, the sorcerer sends his daughter Odile, disguised as Odette, to seduce him. Rudolf Nureyev’s legendary production for the Paris Opera Ballet lends this classic tale dramatic psychological depth and showcases the company’s world-class virtuosity, from grand ensemble scenes to the iconic white-act pas de deux.
