Event Details

This one is going to be MEGA! Be one of the first to witness Francis Ford Coppola’s sci-fi epic, Megalopolis, starring Oscar nominee Adam Driver, at our Festival Darling Preview.

Coppola’s ambitious passion project charting the decline of a mythic civilisation is a singular and operatic vision made on a truly grand scale.

A Roman Epic set in an imagined Modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina (Driver), a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito, Breaking Bad), who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel, Game of Thrones), the mayor's daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.

Driver, Esposito, and Emmanuel, feature in an impressive ensemble cast that also includes Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight and Aubrey Plaza in a critically acclaimed performance.

Reviews

"Megalopolis is exactly what movies can and should be—unflinchingly earnest. "

- RogerEbert.com

"Coppola’s Cannes sensation is a full-body sci-fi sensory bath of a movie, starring a fantastic Aubrey Plaza"

- THE TELEGRAPH

"Megalopolis might be the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy every single batshit second of it."

- Vulture

"It is exactly the movie that Coppola set out to make -- uncompromising, uniquely intellectual, unabashedly romantic, broadly satirical yet remarkably sincere about wanting not just brave new worlds but better ones."

- Rolling Stone
