Put your trust in Mother Ann and be among the first to witness the almighty wonder of Amanda Seyfried in the critically praised musical drama, The Testament of Ann Lee, at our Movie Club Cinephile Preview!

Academy Award nominee Amanda Seyfried is a blazing flame at the heart of award-winning filmmaker Mona Fastvold’s (The World to Come, The Brutalist) epic fable. Fierce, feral and frenzied, Fastvold’s retelling of the extraordinary true legend of Ann Lee was co-written with her partner Brady Corbet, with whom she also penned last year’s Oscar winner The Brutalist alongside.

Seyfried leads as Ann Lee, founder and irrepressible leader of the devotional sect known as the Shakers, who preached gender and social equality and was revered by her followers.

The Testament of Ann Lee captures the ecstasy and agony of her quest to build a utopia, featuring more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns reimagined as rapturous movements with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall (Vox Lux) and original songs & score by Academy Award winner Daniel Blumberg (The Brutalist).

Reviews

The Testament of Ann Lee is a wild, wonderful tribute to one hell of a woman and Seyfried is the glowing flame at its heart.

London Evening Standard

Comparisons to The Brutalist are inevitable... The free-range majesty and fine-grained, muddy-fingernailed detail of Fastvold’s film, though, is entirely its own thing: like Ann, I was left wobbly and breathless by its grandeur and nerve.

Daily Telegraph (UK)

The team behind "The Brutalist" returns for another, possibly even better epic... a speculative, feverish, and altogether rapturous biopic.

IndieWire

...starring Amanda Seyfried in a performance of frightening dedication.
