Twenty-four years before Katniss Everdeen entered the arena, a young Haymitch Abernathy (Australian newcomer Joseph Zada) is reaped for the Fiftieth Hunger Games, the infamous Second Quarter Quell. With twice the number of tributes and nowhere to hide from the Capitol’s control, Haymitch must decide who he can trust, what he is willing to sacrifice and whether he will play by the rules or fight back.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel, the film brings fan-favourite characters back to Panem in younger form, with Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee and Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes as President Snow.
