Synopsis

Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Ava DuVernay, ORIGIN chronicles the tragedy and triumph of Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Isabel Wilkerson as she investigates a global phenomenon of epic proportions. Portrayed by Academy Award nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (“King Richard”), Isabel experiences unfathomable personal loss and love as she crosses continents and cultures to craft one of the defining American books of our time. Inspired by the New York Times best-seller “Caste,” ORIGIN explores the mystery of history, the wonders of romance and a fight for the future of us all.

An Australian Conversation For Australians, the parallels are stark: Origin brings our history, from the Stolen Generations to the White Australia policy, into sharp new focus.   A Message of Hope Brought to life by award-winning director Ava DuVernay, one of the most acclaimed filmmakers working today, Origin is a message of hope. On her journey to understand the history and impact of discrimination, Isabel finds that division doesn’t have to be our destiny. Through truth-telling and empathy, we can map a path to equality - and open a door to healing.   Discover More Delve into the themes and ideas explored in Origin in this companion piece produced by Good.film Click here
