Helplessly lost in a sea of bureaucracy, Aisha (Letitia Wright, Black Panther, Death on the Nile), seeks asylum in Ireland from her Nigerian homeland. She soon finds a friend in Connor (Josh O’Connor, Mothering Sunday BFF21, The Crown), but as their bond increases so does their struggle to maintain their relationship as Aisha’s dilemma to seek refuge intensifies.
This emotionally charged story offers a voice to the voiceless as the story charts the gripping experience and devastating plight of those searching for asylum along with the systems that keep them desperate and helpless.
An intimate and touching character drama, Wright showcases Aisha’s journey with conviction and nuance, while O’Connor delivers a sterling supporting performance.
Filmed in docudrama style, writer-director Frank Berry crafts an immensely moving experience. Aisha immerses the audience in a heart-rendering narrative showcasing the global plight of those in need to find a place to call home.
