Synopsis

An intimate bittersweet comedy following Sue as she re-enters the dating scene. She meets a mysterious biker called Ron at her brother's funeral and sparks fly. When it comes time to meet Ron’s social-media influencer son, Sue finds herself in an increasingly surreal battle of wills with this ambitious teenager who is convinced that his dance troupe ‘Electric Destiny’ is tipped for stardom. Will she find the purpose and imagination to bring this little unconventional family together for a new chance at happiness?

Written and directed by Leo Leigh, Leigh has film in his blood as the son of veteran filmmaker Mike Leigh and actress Alison Steadman. Maggie O’Neill offers a brilliant central performance that is the heart and soul of the film.

Bringing this character study to life with naturalistic style, recalling many of his father’s works, Sweet Sue is honest, touching and uplifting, and offers a joyful take on the unexpected second chances life gives you.
