An entertaining new comedy from Pierfrancesco ‘Pif’ Diliberto (The Mafia Only Kills in the Summer IFF14), On Our Watch takes aim at the technology multinationals that have transformed our modern world for better or worse.
Arturo (Fabio De Luigi) is an up-and-coming manager who without suspecting it, invents an algorithm that effectively makes his position within the company superfluous. His life quickly crumbles as he loses his job, his girlfriend and his friends in rapid succession.
In order to stay afloat and not end up on the street, he obtains a job as a delivery rider for FUUBER, a large multinational technology giant, shuttling takeaway orders around town while his movements are monitored and evaluated by a strict app.
His only consolation is Stella (Ilenia Pastorelli), a hologram girlfriend also connected to FUUBER to whom Arturo, during his week-long free trial, becomes attached. But unable to afford to renew his subscription, Arturo is forced to work hard to find love and freedom again.
