Featuring an excellent ensemble cast including Tom Schilling (Never Look Away) and David Kross (A Stasi Comedy GER22), The Peacock is a charming crime comedy akin to Cluedo meets Agatha Christie.
When investment banker Linda Bachmann (Lavinia Wilson, Deutschland 86) and her team arrive at the country estate of Lord and Lady McIntosh for a team building seminar, the prospects of having a relaxing weekend in Scotland are poor. The annual balance sheet is lousy, the team is keeping a suspicious eye on each other and their boss, and rumours abound that a compliance officer will soon be restructuring the department.
To make matters worse, the estate is not very comfortable which even skilled cook Helen cannot hide, and the methods of young seminar leader Rebecca (Svenja Jung, Deutschland 89) also seem rather questionable. When the Lord’s favourite peacock and then the Lady’s favourite goose disappear, further quarrels and chaos are inevitable.
Based on the best-selling eponymous novel by Isabel Bogdan, The Peacock is a stylish game of mockery and human vanities that plays with expectations.
"Charming and carried by a playful ensemble.”"
