Wim Wender’s heartfelt opus Wings of Desire offers a cinematic symphony of emotions. Starring the late Bruno Ganz as Damiel, an angel who grapples with the fact he can hear the thoughts, fears, hopes and dreams of the mortals walking the buzzing Berlin streets below.
When he falls in love with a beautiful trapeze artist, he is willing to give up his immortality and return to earth human to be with her. Featuring appearances by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds along with the brilliant Peter Falk as himself, the production occurred just prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall, with the art and music of the period and region heavily influencing Wenders.
Offering a stunning tapestry of sound and vision, the striking black and white cinematography recalls the German expressionism movement along with flourishes of colour all commanded by the legendary Henri Alekan. A true classic, Wings of Desire is a ravishing examination of the human condition that continues to move audiences and cements the name of director Wim Wenders synonymous with film art.

"A stunningly made valentine to the city of Berlin, which has never been more imaginatively or more beautifully filmed. A joy from start to finish."
