Synopsis

Captured live from Venice’s splendid Piazza San Marco, world-renowned maestro Juraj Valčuha conducts the La Fenice Choir and Orchestra and an exceptional cast of soloists for Beethoven’s monumental symphonic masterpiece Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125. A glorious celebration of shared humanity, this epic and ground-breaking work, the composer’s final complete symphony, is remarkable for its grandness of scale, but especially its final movement “Ode to Joy” based on Friedrich Schiller’s poem, which changed the course of Western music forever.
