Special Gala Performance.
La Scala presents a special tribute to dance, performed to celebrate the resumption of the company’s ballet activities after Covid-19. The rich programme, proposed by Manuel Legris, La Scala’s new director of the Corps de Ballet, spans classic and modern sensitivities and highlights the stylistic versatility and interpretation of the company’s dancers.
Highlights include: Act II of ‘La Sylphide’, in the classic romantic choreography by the great August Bournonville; The grand pas de deux of Nureyev’s ‘Don Quixote’ performed by La Scala Principals Nicoletta Manni and her real-life partner Timofej Andrijashenko; The Act II two-step from Dell’Ara’s ‘Excelsior’ performed by Martina Arduino with Federico Fresi; La Scala Principal Claudio Coviello paired with Emanuela Montanari for the timeless classic ‘Le Spectre de la Rose’ by Nureyev after Fokine; excerpts from Legris’s own take on ‘Le Corsaire’, a gorgeous contemporary work, danced by the brilliant Virna Toppi, Marco Agostino and Mattia Semperboni; and more!
