Enter Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman’s surprising and dreamlike universe with PLAY. Created for the Paris Opera Ballet in 2017, where it sold out an extraordinary 25 performance premiere season, it’s a piece that contemplates the place and meaning of play in our lives…
A sparkling personality on the contemporary dance scene, Ekman’s language, both visceral and tinged with humour, combines theatricality and classical and contemporary vocabulary alike. Set to a lively musical score by Mikael Karlsson, the metallic structures, dancers suspended in space, and the elevations are but a few of the powerful images that will strike your imagination! It’s a production full of joy, enticing rhythms and communicative energy, danced to perfection by the Paris Opera Ballet’s stunning performers.
