About to have their first child, newlywed architect couple Elena (Vicky Luengo, Girlfriends SPA22) and Ivan (Pol López) decide to leave the city of Barcelona and move to the countryside to an old stone farmhouse and adjoining 1,200-acre cork forest Elena inherited from her aunt.
They have grand plans for a farmhouse renovation and their new cork business is to provide their livelihood, an ethical and sustainable life in harmony with nature and community.
As they set out to build their new life, it soon becomes clear that their views on how to live on the land could not be more different. Hit by a harsh reality as the city, country, desire and gender roles collide, when circumstances arise that need quick solutions, their personal beliefs and the future of their relationship are put to the test.
Inspired by his own experiences working on a cork plantation in Catalonia, writer/director Mikel Gurrea’s intriguing feature film debut explores the balance of power in relationships and the tension between locals and outsiders.
