The Miracle of Bern (2003) portrays the life of a German family after WWII. The youngest son had to grow up without his father, who was kept in soviet war captivity. While the national team contests in the Soccer World Cup 1954, the youngest son Mattes befriends with a soccer player and starts to see a father-like figure in him. Surprisingly, the German team wins the Soccer World Cup and brings back euphoria to the young Federal Republic of Germany and the family.
